SUSANVILLE, Lassen County — October 27, 2026. Susanville police employees are taking part in a three-month fundraising tradition that connects workplace participation with local nonprofit causes. An October 1, 2026 announcement by the Susanville Police Department outlines its annual No Shave Campaign, with a different beneficiary each month through December.
Which causes are being supported?
The department names Northern California Cancer Advocates for October, Lassen County Holiday with a Hero for November, and Susanville Little League for December. These organizations serve different community needs, from support for people affected by cancer to holiday activities and youth sports.
The selection of beneficiaries is a statement of the police department’s plan, not a claim that a specific fundraising total has already been collected or paid to an organization.
How the campaign works
According to the statement, officers and non-sworn employees can make a monthly charitable contribution in exchange for temporary relaxation of some workplace grooming rules. The department allows male officers to wear facial hair outside standard policies; other permitted changes include different hairstyles or nonstandard accessories for participating personnel.
Acting Public Safety Chief Sobol authorized the temporary policy for employees who participate. These are internal employment and fundraising arrangements, not changes to the city’s public-safety service standards.
How residents can help
The official notice does not publish a public donation link, minimum contribution or verified fundraising goal. Residents wishing to support a recipient should contact the organization or police department using independently confirmed official channels before transferring money, and avoid responding to unsolicited donation messages without verification.
